Web Spaces-Digital Pedagogies

Image
Introduction   As I delve into the depths of modern technology I find myself slightly overwhelmed and lost in understanding the concepts of a complex digital world that I've not yet experienced. In saying this, I am excited to lean something new that will further improve my practice as a pre-service teacher.  This opportunity will allow me to express, critically reflect, collaborate not only with peers but the greater community in the digital world. What are the differences between a Blog, Wiki and a Website? make a website hub For some the question is what is the difference between a blog and a wiki? According to Jamie from Make a website hub , a blog is typically known as an online journal or diary that can include an array of content from texts, videos, animations, pictures or other documents you may wish to display for the public to see.  A WIKI is defined as an online website that allows multiple authors and collaboration editing of content that is structured by users. Legal, Safe and Ethical Practices

Legal, safe and ethical practice and what it means for you What are the dimensions of legal, safe and ethical practice outlined in the Australian Curriculum: ICT as a General Capability? When using ICT's, students are to apply appropriate practices and protocols while establishing their understanding on technology within the educational context. Students are to safely create, communicate and share information while applying the following dimensions: Recognize intellectual property Apply digital information, security and practices. Apply personal security protocols and Identify the impacts of ICT in society.    Reference.  https://www.australiancurriculum.edu.au/f-10-curriculum/general-capabilities/information-and-communication-technology-ict-capability/learning-continuum/? What will you need to consider in your curriculum learning areas? In the curriculum area that I will be teaching, the general use of ICT's are used to extend and build on student capabiliti

The SAMR model

The SAMR Model.    Education in the 21st century has seen an revolutionary change in the way that learning content is being delivered. The focus on using ICT's to deliver content has seen in recent times(due to the current global pandemic) its justification of use in the educational context.  I believe that the global pandemic has shown educational institutions that the use of ICT's allow for students to openly collaborate with their peers and communicate in a safe space while still actively participating in learning content that is delivered online by the teacher. This practice identifies the lower levels of blooms taxonomy. By using the SAMR model, teachers can use the 4 main key focuses of substitution, argumentation, modification and redefinition then breaking them into transformation and enhancement. This allows for teachers integrate and incorporate technology in to learning and break down tasks into manageable steps.  I think the SAMR model would be a fantastic strategy

Higher Order Thinking

Reflecting on higher order thinking Secondary discipline areas are often content-laden. Use Robyn Collins Curriculum and Leadership as a foundation, and consider the Australian Curriculum in your selected junior discipline area. Identify the process/research/inquiry skills that are required. They are skills that, according to Collins, are best developed through application to real-life contexts. Use the Aims, rationale and structure of the curriculum to uncover the global approaches of importance, as well as the content. The process/research and inquiry skills for design and technology are that students are to investigate from a range of technologies, materials, systems, components, tools and equipment to consider the characteristics and properties of technologies and how they can be combined to design and produce sustainable problems for individuals and the community. Furthermore, consider society, ethics, and economic, environmental and social sustainability factors.   Students

Pedagogical Principles

Pedagogical Principles What are the Pedagogical Principles (defined in the Learning Materials)? The pedagogical principles that are defined in digital pedagogies are that of:   Facilitating deep knowledge through higher order thinking. Facilitating collaborative learning in which conversations are important. Supporting students in knowing how they learn best. Planning learning that is problem based and situated in real life context. Is relevant to students, and connects to their background knowledge. Supports learning that is owned, controlled and managed by students themselves. Is socially supportive, engaging, and values cultural knowledge. Is supportive of the development of active citizenship, and strong group identity.    What do the Pedagogical Principles mean to you in common language? Pedagogical principles are the main focus on teaching within the educational context. Pedagogical principles are also the many learning arrangements required to teach, and build ethi

Who is the contemporary learner?

Who is the contemporary learner? How will the characteristics of our Gen Z learners depicted in the Meet GenZ video define their engagement in the traditional classroom snippet? Gen z learners of the 21st century are different from other millennial generations. As a society we are just beginning to realize and understand how Gen z   have an impact on the future. Gen z educational settings focus on inclusive classrooms and differentiated instruction. There is much grater diversity amongst Gen z, they also seek education and knowledge and their social circles are global. Referring to the ideas presented by Willis and Robinson, is this level of creativity in evidence in the schools you have attended, both as a student, and as a preservice teacher? Furthermore, is this level of creativity in evidence in your University units? As secondary pre-service teaching students, you will experience a variety of approaches to teaching, learning and course design in your discipline st
A challenge to your beliefs   You as a contemporary teacher? To what extent is it reasonable to conclude that if you are not experiencing positive or negative emotions about the materials and activities in any learning experience, that you are potentially disinterested or not motivated? Discuss in relation to your first emotional response to the nature of this unit.   I am currently finding it hard in understanding some of the content being taught in digital pedagogies . I understand the concept of pedagogies; what they are and how they are used, but lack the knowledge and understanding of digital technology. Elaborate on your emotions on engaging further with this unit? Positive, negative. Indifferent? As much as I am nervous in undertaking digital pedagogies, I am excited to learn something completely different that I can embed into my future professional identity. To what extent do you have the commitment to actively interrogate your emotions, and your beliefs about
